Sweet and slightly tangy, SHILOH FARMS Organic California Apricots are great, chewy treat to be enjoyed right out of the bag! Their rich, apricot flavor will also make them a favorite for baking and cooking purposes. Unsulphered, unsweetened, and pitted*, these apricots are an excellent source of vital nutrients, including iron and Vitamin A.
Less common than Turkish varieties, California Apricots have a much more concentrated, intense, tangy apricot flavor. This makes them ideal for snacking or use in dishes where you want a pronounced apricot flavor.
To Rehydrate: Simmer fruit in small amount of water or fruit juice approximately 15 minutes, or until tender. Alternately, soak in water or fruit juice in refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.

*Due to machine pitting process, some pit pieces may remain in fruit.
*You may notice a whitish, crystalline coating on some of our dried apricots. This is called "sugaring," and it's completely natural — not mold. Dried apricots are naturally high in sugar, and as the fruit dries and is stored, that sugar can migrate to the surface and crystallize. It does not affect the safety or quality of the product.

GFM sent me a trial of these apricots with an order I placed recently and I am really enjoying them! They are not the plump juicy kind of dried apricots...they are thinner. So I rehydrate them. I am a big fan of herbal tea, and some that I drink are not very sweet. So I stick these apricots in my tea while it's brewing, and it softens up in the hot water and sweetens my tea for me. Then when I am done drinking my tea, I get to spoon out and eat my apricots when they are nice and soft! I think these apricots would work well for soaking and blending too (for example if you want to blend or process it with nuts to make some kind of raw dessert). I think this type of dried apricots would be tough on the teeth to try to eat straight out of the bag. But in soaked and rehydrated form they wonderful and a great way to get the nutritional benefits of apricots when they are out of season. I love that these are very natural, unsulphured, organic apricots.
