These croissants had the flaky texture that I remember and miss. No physical reactions to this product (and we run an obesssively GF kitchen!). And... unlike some other reviewers... I'm not sharing with anyone! LOL
THANKYOU for carrying this company. My healthfood store just started carrying some of them. I've tried some breads, but didn't like any of them at all... like eating air with no taste. So I tried the Schar Croissants and voila! I was like in heaven! My mouth forgot what real bread tasted like. I haven't had any bread for 5 years now. I've made some on my own but I don't have the time and I have a tight budget . So now I will save for any of the Schar products. A job well done. THANKYOU!
Bravo Schar! These delighful little croissants are fabulous! Slathered with butter, a tad bland, BUT add some jam, nutella, or whatever your heart desires, and you have a winner here! I also took avantage of those yummy fresh strawberries & used the croissants as the shortbread! So many options!
I have been gluten free for over 20 years. I am extremely sensitive to gluten. I have had zero reaction to these croissants, and neither has my son. I read about wheat starch and while I was a little leary, I tried them. They are awesome. Just like my memory of croissants. I will definitely buy them again!
I ordered gluten-free products because they are usually wheat-free; however, this one is not. Gluten is the protein in wheat and I lack the enzymes to digest the carbohydrate in wheat. I ordered three packages, double-checked the ingredients, and realized I could not eat them. They are sitting in the freezer. I am on a Low FODMAP Diet. I am hoping there will be more foods available for my diet in the future. Until then, it would be greatly helpful if packaging was clearly marked, "CONTAINS WHEAT PRODUCT." For now, I know better than to assume that "gluten-free" means "wheat-free."
