Milled from all natural whole almonds, SHILOH FARMS Almond Flour produces cakes, cookies, and other baked goods that are light, moist, and tender. With a more traditional flavor than many other nut-based flours, this versatile and easy-to-use flour is a popular, low carb substitute for regular flour, especially in grain-free and gluten-free baking. It can also be added to regular baked goods for a healthy boost of protein, fiber, and other nutrients!
Exceptionally nutrient-dense, just ¼ cup of almonds each day provides significant amounts of high-quality protein and fiber, as well as a wide variety of vitamins and minerals. Almonds are especially rich in Vitamin E, manganese, magnesium, and B Vitamins, and are also a good source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids.
Native to the Mediterranean region of the Middle East, almonds are not technically nuts. Rather, they are the seeds of the almond tree.
Usage: Depending on the recipe, almond flour can be substituted for anywhere from 25% to 100% of the total flour required. If not using a recipe specifically developed for almond flour, we recommend initial substitution of 25%, gradually increasing the amount of almond flour until the desired result is reached. Because it has higher fat than traditional grain-based flours and contains no gluten, using almond flour may require adjusting other ingredients in the recipe as well.
1. With its nutty, slightly sweet flavor, almond flour works especially well in cakes, cookies, brownies, and quickbreads.
2. When making pizza dough, pie crusts, breads, and pasta, combine with tapicoa flour (or your choice of gluten flour) to obtain a more traditional texture.
3. Stir into smoothies or shakes for a boost of protein and fiber.
4. Make a coating for chicken, fish, or vegetables.
5. Use as a binder in meatloaf, burgers, or meatballs.
Storage: Because of its high fat content, refrigeration or freezing is recommended. For best results, allow to come to room temperature before use.
